LANCASTER COUNTY, NE – A DUI suspect was arrested following a multi-vehicle crash Saturday, June 8, in Lincoln that killed another driver and left herself and at least two others injured.
According to the Lincoln Police Department, the fatal wreck unfolded near 84th Street Trail and Old Cheney Road.
The suspect, a 40-year-old Lincoln woman, was driving southbound on 84th Street near the intersection. At one point, her vehicle veered into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with an SUV, killing its driver, a 49-year-old man, also of Lincoln, and critically injuring his passenger, a 49-year-old Rhode Island man.
The suspect also suffered serious injuries, while her passenger reported minor injuries.
Officials said the impact of the crash caused the SUV’s engine to fly off the vehicle and strike another vehicle. The suspect’s car was also struck by a fourth vehicle.
The suspect, who was arrested following her release from the hospital, was charged with the following: “motor vehicle homicide – DUI with a prior conviction for DUI, DUI resulting in serious injury, driving with a revoked license,” as well as “Interlock device violation.”
