Narrative

OTOE COUNTY, NE – An 87-year-old woman died following a two-vehicle collision Saturday night, June 8, near Syracuse that left a juvenile injured.

Nebraska State Patrol said the fatal wreck occurred on Nebraska Highway 2 at North 34th Road, shortly before 11:00 p.m.

The elderly woman and the minor were passengers in an SUV traveling eastbound on the highway when it collided with a pickup truck heading southbound on 34th Road.

First responders pronounced the 87-year-old woman, from St. Joseph, Missouri, deceased at the scene.

The juvenile, who suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to an Omaha hospital.

No injuries to either driver were reported.

Officials have not released any details regarding pending charges or citations, but an investigation was in progress.
